Your light but tasty Christmas menu

Your light but tasty Christmas menu

Ideas for a delicious and balanced Christmas menu.

Although it may seem impossible, we are going to make sure that your meals during this festive season are not only healthy but also delicious and appetising.

I bet that’s taken your fancy

First of all, remember to always include some vegetable or other and lighten up your dishes with lighter sauces, such as yoghourt instead of cream, or skimmed milk.
Careful with appetizers, as they are full of calories and, and the first thing you eat and, as you are hungry, you tend to eat a lot of them.
And try to have fruit for dessert. There are thousands of delicious combinations.

Proposal no. 1:

  • Appetizer: rye bread toast with peppers or anchovies and fresh cheese or spreadable cheese. It provides calcium and omega 3 acids, as well as beta-carotene.
  • Starter: Shellfish soup. Rich in proteins and low in fat.
  • Main course: Roast turkey with cranberry sauce.  Curly endive and pomegranate salad. With proteins and vitamins of the B group, as well as the antioxidants of the sauce and fibre and water in the salad leaves.
  • Dessert: yoghourt ice cream and tropical fruit kebabs.

Proposal no. 2:

  • Appetizer: Celery and carrot sticks for dipping in low-fat cream cheese and grilled turkey and mango kebabs. Fibre, vitamins, calcium and proteins. And no fat.
  • Starter: Tomatoes stuffed with chopped egg and smoked salmon. Antioxidants and Omega 3 and 6.
  • Main course: Cod in Biscayan pepper sauce. Garnished with steamed mini vegetables. Proteins, phosphorous, potassium, fibre and vitamins.
  • Dessert: Pears in wine with cinnamon.  The vitamins and soluble fibre of the pears will help in your digestion.
Have a glass of wine and toast with champagne. It is Christmas but remember to offset these little excesses with a little exercise.
 A happy and healthy Christmas!
